Local Orchestra will perform in Aboyne
THE Deeside Orchestra will be performing their latest concert on Friday, May 25 in Aboyne
Performing at the Deeside Theatre, the 40-strong orchestra will be taking on an ambitious programme including Mozart's piano concerto no. 23 played by well-known northeast pianist Donald Hawkesworth.
Also, the concert will feature eight-year-old Olivia Curran, who is currently working for her grade three Associated Board Exam. The promising youngster will play a concertina by Kuchlau and will be accompianied by the orchestra's string section.
The concert will start with Schubert's 'Unfinished Symphony,' before the programme visits ballet music from Faust by Gournod, Sea Songs by Vaughan Williams, Easter Parade by Berlin, and a selection from West Side Story.
Conducted by Andy Linklater, the Deeside Orchestra has already scheduled the third Saturday of 2002 for one of its popular "Viennese Nights," with many of the seats already booked.
