| THIS year's annual concert by the Deeside Orchestra is to
take place on Friday, May 14, in Aboyne's Community Education Centre at 7.30pm. |
Johann Strauss, Vaughan Williams and Haydn.
This year it will have particular poignancy as chairperson Willie Scott, who was
also a co-founder of the orchestra seven years ago, is retiring. Through the years Mr Scott has provided a wealth of guidance and advice, drawing on his experience as an orchestral conductor in Bournemouth. Tickets for the concert are priced at £3.50, with £2 concessions for children and senior citizens. They are available from the community education centre office. Call 03398 86222. |

| The orchestra, which is now in its seventh year and boasts a 40-strong
membership should have an even fuller sound than usual. This is thanks to the recent addition of flutes, bassoon, violas and trumpet. Orchestra members are drawn from throughout Deeside, and beyond to Westhill, over in Gordon. Its conductor Andy Linklater is known for providing a varied programme which not only lets members enjoy a |
happy and relaxed evening but the experience of playing
more chalenging works as well as simpler pieces. Another important factor to the group is the range of both age and experience.
